Learn MoreIn this fascinating look at the future of digital learning technology we will describe ongoing work in the design of serious games and mixed reality in learning. Virtual learning environments, particularly game worlds, provide impressive learning gains as evidenced by thousands of publications in the field produced by institutions such as Stanford University, MIT, University of Bristol, Simon Fraser University and national aging, health care and trade training settings. During this session we will discuss research on the effectiveness of serious games, the integration of open gameworld training with phased simulation gamification, new trials on XR, augmented and virtual reality based learning and how you can use gaming right now with my current LMS and design best practices. The key question to ask ourselves every day in this field is “what is coming in 5 years?”, not “what do we need right now?”. Come find out how to stay agile in an educational technology environment that shifts almost every day.
