FAQ

Frequently asked questions about BURST

Can I add an interactivity to my BURST?

Yes! While the goal of BURSTs is to be “performance-ready,” it is possible to create interactive elements before or after the BURST itself. SwissVBS has considerable experience in creating interactive activities and will use its in-house production team to make your BURST more interactive. Contact us for more information.

(Note: Adding an interactivity to a BURST will change the final exported format. SwissVBS will create a SCORM package rather than a video.)

I don’t like any of the styles. What else do you have?

If none of our styles fits your liking, we can work with you to find a style that better suits your needs. This would come at an additional initial cost. While your first BURST in a custom style would be more expensive, subsequent BURSTs in that style would be at a reduced cost. Contact us for more information.

I want to write my own script. Can I do that?

Yes! All BURSTs are written by professional learning designers with expertise in creative writing, but we understand if your organization has specific needs to write your own script. We’ll even provide coaching and guidance on your script before moving it to storyboard.

Can I add my own specific images/brand into a BURST?

Yes! In our BURST questionnaire, we’ll ask you if there are any specific organizational brand elements (e.g., logos, images) you want to include in your BURST. Simply provide us with the files beforehand and we’ll include them.

Can you do 3D animation?

BURSTs are designed to be a quick, easy and cost effective way to create quality microlearning to support your learning and performance needs. While 3D animation is certainly vivid and exciting, it is also time consuming and cost-intensive as a media format (a Pixar movie takes up to six years and roughly $175 million to make) . For this reason, we stay away from using 3D when building a BURST.

Do you do translations?

Yes! SwissVBS has experience in translating content into over 20 languages. Once your BURST is complete, we can translate it into any language you need. Translation requests (subtitles included) are priced out on a per language basis.

How do learners access BURSTs within my organization? And will they work on my LMS?

Because the moment of need is technology agnostic, BURSTs are designed to be as agile as possible to fit your technology needs. That means you can use a BURST anywhere a video can be played – on your smartphone, learning platform, LMS, or chat portal. SwissVBS recommends your BURST resides in the technology platform within your organization that is the easiest and quickest to access from the learner’s perspective.

How can I use this for tracking?

BURSTs are designed to be highly versatile, and video output allows increased flexibility in deployment. Depending on the sophistication of your data measurement platform, a video can be used to measure drop-off rates, as well as view counts, and of course, completion.

What video formats do you export in?

All commonly accepted video formats:
.mov; .mpeg; .mov; .wmv

When we deliver your BURST, you will receive it in all these file formats.

What if I want a BURST that is shorter than the standard 90 seconds? Do I still pay the same price?

Whether it’s 30 seconds, 60 seconds or 90 seconds, our production process remains quite similar. We produce BURSTs in the most cost-efficient manner possible to allow for quick and easy delivery, and the price will remain the same no matter how short your BURST is.

Does it have to be 90 seconds? Can’t it be longer?

BURSTs are designed to be versatile microlearning videos that provide targeted value in the moment of need, regardless of whether that moment is a “learning” moment or a “performance” moment. Extensive research into drop-off rates with video conclude that two minutes is the ideal time for a video. Any time beyond two minutes and engagement and retention start to falter.

In the moment of need, we believe the Modern Learner consumes what they need in seconds, not minutes, which is why we are focused on a 90-second maximum engagement as a design parameter for our BURSTs.

If you feel strongly that your BURST should be longer, we won’t object. We both want your learners to succeed!

How do I provide feedback when my BURST is being developed? What can I give feedback on?

Creating your BURST is a collaborative process, where your input and feedback is not only welcome, but necessary. We strongly encourage active feedback during our whole production process to make sure we get your BURST exactly right.

How does the BURST working process work?

Step 1: Order Intake
Using our online form, let us know what type of BURST you would like to create, including your learning objective, chosen type and style, and we’ll get back to you within two business days.

Step 2: Questionnaire
After taking your order, we’ll submit a questionnaire for your team to answer that will help us understand your vision for your BURST.

Step 3: Invoice
Once your order is processed, we will send you a detailed invoice outlining the work process, key deliverables and total costs. Once payment is received, we can move on to the Creative Kick-Off Session.

Step 4: Creative Kick-Off Session
Once your order is processed, we will send you a detailed invoice outlining the work process, key deliverables and total costs. Once payment is received, we can move on to the Creative Kick-Off Session.

Step 5: Script & Storyboard Phase
After the creative session, our team will set to work on the script and storyboard. This deliverable will include simple visual screens that match the text, so you get an exact feel for how your BURST will play out before we go to media production. We’ll work to make sure your BURST is exactly how you want it.

Step 6: Media Production Phase
After the script and storyboard are signed off, our team of illustrators and animators will take over and produce the first cut of your BURST. Similar to the Scripting Phase, we’ll work with your feedback to fine tune the details of your BURST.

Step 7: Delivery
After the script and storyboard are signed off, our team of illustrators and animators will take over and produce the first cut of your BURST. Similar to the Scripting Phase, we’ll work with your feedback to fine tune the details of your BURST.

I want to order multiple BURSTs. How do I go about doing that?

No problem. Ordering multiple BURSTs at once is the most cost-efficient way to support your learning ecosystem within your organization. We offer discounted pricing for ordering BURSTs in packages. Please consult our pricing sheet for more details.

What are the payment terms/structure of BURST?

Once your order is received and processed, we will provide you with a detailed invoice outlining the work process, key deliverables and total costs. Payment terms are 50% upon receipt of the signed contract and 50% upon final delivery.

When purchasing BURSTs in packages, you pay 50% up front, and then pay the remaining amount for each BURST as you decide to execute on them. This is ideal for organizations that want to take advantage of value-pricing for bulk orders but aren’t sure exactly when they are going to use them.
